Live Nativity

"...I bring you good news of great joy." Luke 2:10

The live nativity is a ministry that we present on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before Christmas.  This three day event draws over 5,000 people.  There are seven scenes; the angel's announcement to Mary that she will be the mother of God's son., the angels' proclamation to the shepherds that the child is born, the choir of angels to the shepherds, Joseph and Mary on their way to Bethlehem, the manger with baby Jesus, the wise men following the star to find the Christ child, and Christ risen from the grave after the Crucifixion.

In addition to live characters in the scenes we use live animals.  We rent camels, goats, and a donkey from the Natural Bridge Zoo.  Sheep are loaned to us for use in the Shepherds' scene.

This ministry was started in 1985 by Steve Fulton and the teens of our congregation.  It has grown over the years and almost one half of our congregation is involved in presenting this ministry.
